Samuel Eto’o will not be joining Beşiktaş this winter break. During the opening ceremony of new Antalyaspor facilities, president Ali Şafak Öztürk and the striker have announced that he will be staying at Antalyaspor until the end of the season.

Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman and head coach Şenol Güneş were also at the ceremony. The Black Eagles, who were staying at the same hotel as Antalyaspor, had a friendly match against the hosts the day after the opening. Antalyaspor won that game with a 4-2 scoreline, as Anderson Talisca scored both goals for the Eagles.

They were faced with an unpleasant surprise however, as during the ceremony Öztürk announced that Eto’o will not be leaving Antalya during this winter break. He proceeded to ask the striker the same question and Eto’o answered him by saying that he is staying and that he loves Antalyaspor. Beşiktaş will therefore now have to focus on other alternatives for the striker position.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that Trabzonspor are interested in striker Ömer Şişmanoğlu. Şenol Güneş is however not willing to let him leave before a new striker is added to the squad.
