Beşiktaş – Fenerbahçe post-match reactions

“You have to face provocations”

Şenol Güneş: “Despite all the provocations in the first 10-15 minutes, we regained control of the game. Unusual things happened, but that is possible. However, while we were playing well and were in control of the game, our player was unnecesarily sent off and the control of the game was given to our opponent. Fenerbahçe play well with 11 against 10. A goal from the counter put our opponent up front. It isn’t right to congratulate the opponent, but one team won and that was Fenerbahçe. I’m proud of my players today. Playing football isn’t enough, you have to face provocations too. I don’t want to talk about the referee. It isn’t right to search for excuses in the referee or the opponent. You have to react calmly to those kind of situations.”

“I wish Fenerbahçe came to play football”

Oğuzhan Özyakup: “We were the better team until the red card. We pressed well and had possession, but couldn’t convert our chances. Should I now say that Fenerbahçe didn’t come to play football, or talk about the cheap red card? We are leaders in the league and have an important game in front of us on Friday. I wish Fenerbahçe came here to play football. We had chances, despite being with 10 men, but couldn’t convert them. We shouldn’t be too upset about this game and continue. I congratulate my team mates, I hope we get 3 points against Karabükspor. I was good friends with someone [Robin van Persie] until this game, but people make their personality clear on the pitch. That’s all I have to say.”
