Beşiktaş players: international round up

With the competitive international games behind us now and only friendlies left, it’s time to take a look at the performances of our Beşiktaş players for their respective national teams.

Turkey

Cenk Tosun and Gökhan Gönül helped Turkey to a 2-0 home victory over Finland in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Cenk scored both goals and featured for 84 minutes while Gökhan played the entire match but picked up an injury and was rested for the friendly against Moldova in which Oğuzhan Özyakup wore the captain’s armband and featured for 65 minutes and also assisted the first goal by Emre Mor in a 3-1 win. Cenk also featured briefly in the friendly against Moldova and came on as a second half substitute in the 83rd minute.

Portugal

Ricardo Quaresma featured the full 90 minutes as Portugal beat Hungary convincingly 3-0 in World Cup qualifiers, while not scoring or grabbing an assist Quaresma was widely praised for his performance after the match by the Portuguees media.

Croatia

Matej Mitrovic featured the full 90 minutes for Croatia in their 1-0 win over Ukraine in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. He was praised after the match by fellow international Domagoj Vida for his “solid” performance.

Armenia

Aras Özbiliz came on as a second half substitute in the 70th minute for Armenia and immediately put his mark on the match by scoring the second goal as Armenia beat Kazakhstan 2-0 in World Cup qualifiers.

Cameroon

Vincent Aboubakar featured for 79 minutes and scored the only goal as Cameroon beat Tunesia 1-0 in a friendly match.
