Turkish Football And The Dawn of a New Era
With all of the end of season excitement going on currently, the...
“The right team won today, our opponents played very well organized and stubborn early on but we deserved to win. Our ball rotation was too slow in the first half but we turned it up in the second half, my players did well. We had lost four points in our last two games so it was very important for us to win t his game. The situation of our rivals also effected us, we have to win every match. We have a lead in the standings now but it’s not a guarantee for anything, we want to win all our remaining matches.”
“We played well today and showed our quality. We performed well as a team and we have enhanced our advantage over our rivals. But there is still a long way to go and we have plenty of matches left. Tomorow we start working towards the next games. The international break was useful for me, it helped me increase my self confidence. I’m very happy that I managed to contribute to our victory tonight.”
“The international break came at a good time for us, it gave us an opportunity to rest and as a result we got a big victory today. Our opponents started well and put us under pressure early on, we scored at the right time and that opened up the game in the second half. I always want to contribute to the scoreline but winning is the most important thing. The point difference we now have will not let us hold back, we now need to rest up well as we have a difficult away game against Trabzonspor next weekend.”
“We didn’t want to pass up the opportunity again to expand our lead, we lost four points in our previous two games against Kayserispor and Antalyaspor. So we knew it was very important for us to win today and I’m very happy that we managed to take full advantage of our rival’s loss of points.”
“We played the best team in the league today but I think we started the first half really well and we even created a good chance where Fabri unfortunately got injured, had we scored there the game would have been wide open. But they scored in the last minute. Talisca’s second goal was a great strike.”
“I have a lot of respect for Şenol Güneş, he was the first coach to call me up to the national team. But I didn’t like how his team asked for cards after every foul. There were a few key points in the game that could have gone our way and it could have changed the game, first was the chance we had in which Fabri got injured, if that had gone in it would be a different game. Second was their goal just before halftime and third was Tolga’s save on Vedat’s header at the start of the second half. But congratulations to Beşiktaş, they deserved the win.”
