Cenk Tosun scored the opening goal in today’s thrilling 4-3 Beşiktaş victory away against Trabzonspor.

After his goal Cenk Tosun celebrated with a prayer, and after the match he dedicated his goal and the team’s victory to his recently deceased father-in-law, “I dedicate my goal and this great victory to you” he said.

“I think we played very well in the opening half hour today, but we conceded a very nice goal. Our coach told us after the match that this was a great victory for us, that it’s not easy to come away with a win here. This was an incredibly important win for us and I think this might have been the match of the season we witnessed today.”

Remainder of the post match reactions…

Gökhan Gönül

“In my opinion we could have put the game away in the first half with Babel’s chance. But as players we enjoyed to be part of this spectacle and I think the people watching this game enjoyed it too. But I’m very happy to get a last minute winner here, the most “elegant” goal came from Talisca if you ask me.”

Atiba Hutchinson

“This was a great team with two teams that are in good form and played well. We played under a great atmosphere, it’s not easy to come here and win against Trabzonspor who hadn’t lost here before. Gökhan put in a great cross and I managed to head it in and score the goal.”

Şenol Güneş

“I don’t have to talk about football, we got our 61st point here. Last season we won the championship by winning here. My hope is that will turn out to be the case this year too. We opened the score but panicked a bit after conceding. We’ve got some good things to take away from this match but also some bad things. Our opponents gave us a worthy fight, it’s not easy to concede a third and go down and still come back from that, we played well but that made our job harder. We had some luck today but we played secure and classy. We set the scene briliantly today, we played under fantastic conditions and we are happy to come away the victors here.”
