Albayrak revealed that Beşiktaş had already reached a principle agreement with Jeremain Lens last Summer, but due to a specific contractual demand the deal fell through, “We agreed to sign with Lens last season but then he wanted to add a clause to the contract which would allow him to leave for China should a good contract offer come in” he continues “then Dick Advocaat signed with Fenerbahçe and he went there instead”.
Metin Albayrak confirms that the club have renewed their interest in Lens however, “We are interested in Lens, Sunderland want to sell him outright but we’re looking more towards a loan with option-to-buy due to our financial fairplay restrictions”. Albayrak continued, “As our president already stated, Lens is not Fenerbahçe’s player, he’s Sunderland’s player. We aren’t interested in signing him to mess with Fenerbahçe, our interest in the player predates his time at Fenerbahçe”.
Jeremain Lens spent the past season on loan at rivals Fenerbahçe where he left a solid impression, however Lens is unwilling to remain with Fenerbahçe as Dick Advocaat is set to leave the club. Dutch Champions Feyenoord are also believed to be seriously interested in the 29-year old Dutch International.
