Beşiktaş enter in to negotiations with Pepe

Beşiktaş are looking to add an elite level central defender to their squad this Summer after having signed multiple defenders over the past years that didn’t pan out.

Domagoj Vida has been high on Beşiktaş’ wishlist for the past few transfer windows but his club Dynamo Kyiv have very high demands, despite the player’s contract expiring soon.

In their search to add an elite level central defender to their roster Beşiktaş have entered in to negotiations with Real Madrid and Portugal’s 34 year old defensive stalwart Pepe. The Portuguese of Brazilian decent has made few appearances under Zinedine Zidane this season and his contract was not extended making him a free agent this Summer.

Ahmet Bulut is currently in Portugal and stated to bipspor, “Yes, I’m currently in Lisbon on behalf of Beşiktaş to negotiate with Pepe. A lot of big clubs are interested in his services but Beşiktaş have a good chance to land the player”.

Other teams who have been rumoured to be interested in his services are Inter Milan and Paris St.-Germain. The chances of Beşiktaş actually landing the Portuguese star seem slim as there’ve been rumours already that Pepe had come to personal terms with PSG before this last Champions League final, which Real Madrid won 4-1 against Juventus.

Pepe is currently in Russia representing Portugal at the 2017 Confederations Cup. Last Summer he won EURO 2016 with his teammate and Beşiktaş star Ricardo Quaresma.
