Beşiktaş part ways with Gökhan İnler

Updated: July 11, 2017

Beşiktaş have parted ways with midfielder Gökhan İnler following the player’s request to end his contract prematurely.

Despite winning the title, Gökhan İnler found himself unsatisfied with his current situation at the Black Eagles as he has gotten limited playing time under Şenol Güneş.

Gökhan played a total of 524 minutes in the league (5 starts, 14 total appearances), 540 minutes in the cup (started all 6 games), 233 minutes in the Champions League (2 starts out of 5 appearances) and 93 minutes in the Europa League (1 start out of 5 appearances).

Beşiktaş agreed to terminate the player’s contract under mutual concent in exchange for not having to pay any compensation. The deal also includes a stipulation that Gökhan can not sign for either Galatasaray or Fenerbahçe. Trabzonspor and Başakşehir are rumoured to be interested in his services.

Gökhan was set to earn €1,8m during the upcoming 2017-2018 season and had an optional extention for one additional year after that for €1,9m.

Update: Beşiktaş have made the contract termination official and have issued a public statement on their website and on the public disclosure platform (KAP).
