Beşiktaş in the market for Dutch Ace Davy Klaassen

Updated: June 4, 2018

With Anderson Talisca not returning for a third season, Beşiktaş have to take to the transfer market in search for a replacement. In that search, they have allegedly came across the name of Dutch International and Everton midfielder
Davy Klaassen.

Beşiktaş have build up a good repore with Everton over the past months, with the Cenk Tosun transfer deal, and the Toffees are even rumoured to be interested in striking another deal with the Black Eagles over their captain Oğuzhan Özyakup. But int his scenario cash would be following in the different direction.

Davy Klaassen joined Everton on a €27m transfer fee just a year ago on the insistance of then Everton coach and fellow Dutchman Ronald Koeman. But the Ajax starlet couldn’t make good on that steep transfer fee and the promise he had shown in Amsterdam, assisting just once in 17 appearances and being unable to find the back of the net himself.

But for Ajax, Klaassen impressed in the 5 years since joining the senior team. In the Champions League he scored twice and assisted once in 11 appearances, while int he Europa League he managed to find the back of the net 3 times while going on to provide another 4 assists in 31 total appearances. In the Dutch Eredivisie he contributed to a total of 74 goals in 126 appearances, scoring 44 times and coming up with another 30 assists.

So it wasn’t out of the ordinary that Everton broke the bank for the 16-time Dutch International.

But with Klaassen being unable to make good on the promise he showed at Ajax, he may now be on his way out at Goodison Park and Beşiktaş would be more than willing to take the Dutchman on an initial loan according to Sky Sports sources.

Much like Anderson Talisca, Davy Klaassen isn’t a typically creative attacking midfielder. Like Talisca he’s known for his great offensive runs and good finishing ability, although he isn’t as prolific with his head as the Brazilian is. But unlike Talisca, Klaassen is known to be a tireless worker and tremendous team player. So while he may not completely solve the Black Eagles’ creative difficulties in midfield, he could be a valuable team player if he manages to settle. Could Davy Klaassen be the right man for the job?
