Eurocup: Beşiktaş Integral Forex: 68-70 Union Olimpija

Updated: October 15, 2014

Beşiktaş’ Eurocup campaign began against Union Olimpija at home. The opponent was from Slovenia. Beşiktaş had recently lost 3 of their first 4 official matches and wanted to begin the Eurocup on a good note after beginning the Turkish Cup and the Turkish League on a bad note.

Injured player Patrick Miller, potential signing Kenan Bajramovic and Beşiktaş football players, Atiba Hutchinson and Cenk Tosun followed the match from the stands.

A total of 1,454 fans watched the match from the stands yesterday.

Yet again, Beşiktaş started off bad. They let the opponent’s lead increase very easily. Their shots weren’t falling down, the team defense wasn’t good and there was too many unnecessary turnovers. As a result of these, Beşiktaş let the opponent’s lead increase to as much as 16. The team wasn’t giving the fans watching any hope of a comeback with the basketball that they played throughout the first 3 quarters. However, the team woke up in the 4th quarter, began to take advantage of the opponent’s mistakes and knocked down some shots to help them get back into the game, but it was just a little too late. The referees weren’t on Beşiktaş’ side as well and that didn’t help at all. Even if Beşiktaş was able to bring the lead down to 1 with a couple of seconds to go, it just wasn’t meant to be. Beşiktaş ended off losing their first game at home in the Eurocup.

The other games in the group ended with Khimki defeating Riga 94-65 at home and Olaj getting a 96-94 victory against Petersburg at home.
