Matchday 11

Beşiktaş face-off with Kardemir Karabükspor today in the late afternoon at the Dr. Necmettin Şeyhoğlu stadium in Karabük. The Black Eagles haven’t beaten Karabükspor in their last 3 confrontations and they’ll need to take all three points to remain top of the table.

The biggest news or rather question mark going in to this game is: “Who will stand between the sticks for the visitors?”. With both first goalkeeper Tolga Zengin and Cenk Gönen struggeling with injuries it’s looking likely that 21-year old rookie and Beşiktaş youth product Emre Metin will be making his Süper Lig debut. Cenk Gönen did however travel with the team to Karabük and may still play depending on the final pre-match training.

Rivals Galatasaray won earlier this weekend and are currently in first place with 22 points while Fenerbahçe drew with Eskisehirspor last night thanks to a penalty in the added time leaving them on 21 points. Beşiktaş are currently on 20 points and would be the soul leader of the Süper Lig with a win tonight.

Beşiktaş are coming off back to back wins in the Süper Lig against Istanbul Basaksehir and Kasimpasa, in both games Demba Ba scored crucial goals for the Black Eagles, he has scored 13 goals so far this season in all competitions and will be looking to add to his total tonight.

This game is at an exceptionally early time, 18:00. An odd time for a weekday game as most people will still be at work. An odd decision by the calendar comission.

Karabükspor predicted XI: Waterman, Erdem, Emre Güngör, Mabiala, Tanju, Onur Ayık, Hakan, Yiğit, Traore, Viola, Akpala

Beşiktaş predicted XI: Emre Metin(Cenk Gönen), Serdar, Franco, Ersan Gülüm, Ramon Motta, Gökhan Töre, Hutchinson, Veli Kavlak, Sosa, Olcay, Demba Ba
