Italian sports authority Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Beşiktaş are in the hunt for Fiorentina’s German striker Mario Gomez.

According to Di Marzio’s report the Black Eagles are looking to convince the former Bayern München center forward to join them.

A few days ago Gomez was not leaning towards a move to Beşiktaş, however Di Marzio reports that there has been a change in his attitude towards the Black Eagles’ project and that there now may be an opening. There could be important developments in the coming days.

Gomez only moved to Fiorentina two years ago but his spell in Italy has been plagued by injuries. The Firenze based club are now looking to offload the expensive German in order to bring in new blood.

Gomez cost Fiorentina € 15,5 million in the summer of 2013 when they bought him from Bayern München, but it is expected that they would let him go for significantly less given the lack of success Gomez has had in Italy due to his injury woes. The big German has barely played 30 Serie A games, in which he only scored 7 goals over the two seasons. In total the former German international was feated in 46 games in the purple colors of Fiorentina in which he found the net 15 times.
