STSL: Mersin İ.Y.: 2 Beşiktaş: 5

The Black Eagles started the season with a big statement victory away at Mersin Idmanyurdu tonight, a phenomenal Oguzhan Özyakup mastermineded the impressive 2-5 away victory.

Cenk Tosun scored his first ever hattrick in the Spor Toto Süper Lig while Oguzhan Özyakup gave 3 assists and set up the third goal aswell by putting Olcay one-on-one with Mihaylov, who then laid it back to Cenk for the goal. Olcay got two assists and a goal himself and finally Kerim Frei took care of the fifth goal which see Beşiktaş to the top of the Süper Lig rankings after matchday 1.

Ricardo Quaresma started the first half and played a solid 45 minutes, putting Mihaylov to the test with a trivela shot and an excellent freekick while waving in a superb cross for Atiba Hutchinson, who hit the bar with his header.

Quaresma was substituted off at halftime however as Günes stated after last week’s friendly against Olympiakos that both Quaresma and Gomez weren’t ready to play a full 90 minutes in a competitive game. Necip Uysal replaced him at halftime and Oguzhan who had played as a box-to-box midfielder in the first half moved in to Quaresma’s number 10 position.

Cenk Tosun completed his hattrick in the 68th minute but could have probably done so earlier as an Atiba Hutchinson pass ten or so minutes earlier put him one-on-one with goalkeeper Mihaylov, Cenk took the ball around the keeper but hit the side-netting!

Mario Gomez replaced man of the match Oguzhan Özyakup in the 73rd minute for his official Beşiktaş debut.

In between Mersin’s young midfielder Mehmet Tas had seen a second yellow after a professional foul on Gökhan Töre. Nakoulma, who had already scored the equalizer in the first half managed to pull one back deep in to the second half but Kerim Frei ensured Beşiktaş would finish at the top of the Spor Toto Süper Lig table with his goal in added time.

Beşiktaş now lead the standings after one match with a goal bonus of +3, but they scored more goals than Kasimpasa who also have a goal bonus of +3.
