Matchday 6

The Black Eagles travel to Lisbon for the sixth and deciding fixture in their group stage campaign of the 2015-2016 edition of the UEFA Europa League. Beşiktaş are the leaders in Group H, but will need atleast a point to be certain of qualifaction, a difficult task as Sporting CP are a tough team to beat, especially at home.

Quaresma has been linked with his former club Sporting over the course of the past week, whether these rumours are true or not he is expected to start for the Black Eagles in this important game.

Sporting CP need a victory in order to qualify for the round of 32 while Beşiktaş could even qualify with a defeat depending on the result in the Skënderbeu – Lokomotiv match, but the Eagles should not rely on the Albanians again and have to get atleast one point to ensure qualifcation. With a win Beşiktaş would end the group stages as leaders, but this will definitely not be an easy job. Sporting are currently the undefeated leaders in the Primeira Liga in Portugal with 32 points from 12 games. In Europe they’ve lost once at home, 1-3 against Lokomotiv Moscow on the opening matchday but they made up for that two weeks ago when they got a 2-4 win in Moscow. They had another hick-up in their Europa League campaign however as they suffered a surprising defeat at the hands of Skënderbeu Korçë at the Elbasan Arena, 3-0. Beşiktaş on the other hand are undefeated in Europe this season, but only managed to win twice in their previous five matches, both against Skënderbeu.

With a key match in the Süper Lig on Monday against rivals Galatasaray, it will be interesting to see if Şenol Güneş decides to rest any key players, although this seems unlikely.

Beşiktaş defender Ersan Gülüm and winger Gökhan Töre did not travel with the team to Lisbon and stayed behind in Turkey due to injuries.

Beşiktaş predicted XI:

Tolga Zengin; Andreas Beck – Luiz Rhodolfo – Dusko Tosic – İsmail Köybaşı; Atiba Hutchinson – Necip Uysal (José Sosa) – Oğuzhan Özyakup; Ricardo Quaresma – Olcay Şahan – Mario Gómez
