Steve Mandanda staying put

Bad news coming out of France as it has been announced that French international goalkeeper Steve Mandanda will not be leaving his club Olympique Marseille this summer.

Reports yesterday suggested that Marseille had accepted a € 1,5 million offer from Beşiktaş for their captain because the French goalkeeper did not want to extend his contract. However, it has now been reported that Mandanda will remain at the club until the summer. If Olympique Marseille would manage to qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season his contract would automatically extend by one year. But it is widely expected that he will leave in the coming summer.

That does not chane anything for the Black Eagles however as they are looking to bring in a goalkeeper now, so they won’t be waiting around for six months to bring in Mandanda. It will be interesting to see who they will go for now with Denys Boyko reportedly close to Sevilla.
