All the latest on Ospina, Boyko and Douglas

Updated: January 17, 2016
Yesterday journalist Firat Günayer gave several updates on the Beşiktaş transfer front, he mainly adressed the goalkeeper situation.
  1. After trying a long time, I finally got to meet with someone from the David Ospina front today. It has really been a very secret operation. While officials have been saying ‘What Ospina, his costs are too high’, they have continued meeting with Ospina and Arsenal. Beşiktaş have put a lot of pressure on it until halfway this week, like Ospina did as well, but Arsenal haven’t given a positive response. During the last meeting the answer was ‘it won’t happen right now, come back at the end of the season’. Ospina is no longer on the agenda for Beşiktaş.
  2. If Beşiktaş now loan a goalkeeper for 6 months, they could knock on Arsenal’s door again for Ospina at the end of the season.
  3. If we get to Douglas Silva and Denys Boyko, there already was reached an agreement with the players. Today Beşiktaş and Dnipro also agreed over the transfer fee. Does this mean it’s a done deal? No, because clubs from Ukraine and Russia tend to ask for additional demands after saying ‘we have agreed’. We have seen this many times.
  4. As it looks like right now however, Beşiktaş have agreed with Dnipro over both Douglas and Boyko. It looks like the only thing remaining are the signatures. Remember however how Lucas Leiva came to a hotel to sign a done deal last summer and it didn’t happen. That’s why it isn’t right to say ‘the deal is done’ before seeing the signatures.
  5. There have been questions coming in whether a third name could come in from Spain. I don’t really know, but my opinion is that Beşiktaş will sign a goalkeeper and a central defender and then close this transfer window. (another journalist, Serdar Saridag, announced that a “bomb” was yet to burst coming from Spain yesterday.)
  6. Ömer Şişmanoğlu wants to leave Konyaspor. If their board gives him permission to leave, he will return to Beşiktaş.

All these quotes come from Firat Günayer’s personal Twitter account, please click here if you want to see them for yourselves.

Conclusion of Firat Günayer‘s tweets:

  1. David Ospina is not coming.
  2. Denys Boyko and Douglas Silva are extremely likely to come.
  3. Ömer Şişmanoğlu will most likely return from his loan 6 months early.
