Beşiktaş midfielder Tolgay Ali Arslan is set to make his return to the full team training after suffering a devastating knee injury over the Summer.

Tolgay joined the Black Eagles a little over a year ago from German side Hamburg SV on a € 450.000,00 transfer fee. The young central midfielder had an immediate impact, scoring on his debut in the Turkish cup against Sariyer in a 3-1 win.

But without a doubt the most memorable moment of Tolgay’s brief Beşiktaş career thusfar was his stunning strike against Liverpool in the Round of 32 in the 2014-2015 UEFA Europa League, a goal which would eventually see the Black Eagles knock out the Reds.

After a recurring shoulder injury to Veli Kavlak, Tolgay Arslan became a regular starter for the remainder of the second half of the Süper Lig season aswell, making a total of 16 appearances and 11 total league starts in addition to 3 starts in the cup and 3 appearances int he Europa League, including two starts.

Tolgay really needed no time to adjust and immediatly made himself known to football loving Turkey, making a major impression on friend and foe. He would be one of the key players for 2015-2016 season until disaster struck over the Summer at the Austria training camp. During the end of a training session the 25 year old midfielder was pushing himsel fa little bit too hard and after a physical duel with Eslem Öztürk he twisted his knee and tore his ACL muscle of his right knee.

With Veli Kavlak still struggling with a recurring shoulder injury and also having to undergo surgery again, two key midfielders were all of a sudden out injured for atleast the first half of the 2015-2016 season.

Tolgay has been working very hard over the past half year to make a full return and at the start of January started individual training at the Nevzat Demir complex, having gone through the major part of his rehab in Germany up until that moment.

Tolgay even said in an interview that he had barely watched any games during the first half of the season because he felt it was simply to painful having to watch his teammates play without being able to be part of the team.

Now, after a good 8 months, Tolgay is set to make his return to full team training this coming Monday on the 1st of February 2016. It will take Tolgay some additional weeks to regain full match fitness, but if all s well he should be able to make his return to the pitch around the opening date of the Vodafone Arena (currently scheduled for the 19th of March).
