STSL: Akhisar: 3 Beşiktaş: 3

Updated: April 23, 2016

The Black Eagles have failed yet again to defeat Akhisar Belediyespor at the 19 Mayis stadiumf or the 4th year running, ever since their promotion in 2012, and thusly dropped two precious points int he title race.

Despite the ultimately dissapointing result the Eagles took the lead early on thanks to Mario Gómza’s 23rd goal of the season after just 14 minutes. Beşiktaş controlled the game and pushed the hosts back, allowing them no opporutnity to create chances for pretty much the entire first half.

However, towards the end of the first half the hosts were awarded a freekick which was not properly dealt with. After an accidental handball by Alexis Delgado, who has his arms up too high, the referee pointed to the spot. Tolga managed to save Rodallega’s spotkick but couldn’t prevent the rebound from going in.

Beşiktaş started furiously to the second half and almost instantly took the lead once again after goalkeeper Fatih couldn’t hold on to a shot from Sosa and Olcay followed up well to score the rebound.

But the lead didn’t last too long, after Oguzhan lost the ball in the center of the pitch, the ball was played to Sami on the right wing who curled in a cross near the first post where Hugo Rodalegga tapped in his second of the game. Again the Black Eagles conceded way too easily.

Plenty of time remained however to find another goal and Beşiktaş patiently continued to build up their attacks. After 71 minutes a goal still hadn’t come so two new forces were brought on in the form of Cenk Tosun and Gökhan Töre, for Quaresma and Serdar.

However while Beşiktaş were looking for the winning goal the hosts were the one who took the lead after 78 minutes. After a long ball was sent up the pitch, Tolga signalled to Alexis to leave the ball for him, but the goalkeeper missed his kick leaving the net empty and offering Hugo Rodallega his third and easiest goal of the night.

Şenol Güneş put all his chips ont he table six minutes later and took off Alexis in favour of an additional attacker in Kerim Frei. It looked grim for the Eagles but Cenk Tosun found the equalizer at the stroke of the 90th minute. And nearly Beşiktaş snatched a last second win after Caner took down Cenk who was bearing down on goal, Caner saw his second yellow and was sent off and from the resulting freekick José Sosa hit the woordwork. Unfortunately time ran out and the Black Eagles didn’t manage to find their 4th goal and thus drop two points on matchday 30.

Closest rivals Fenerbahçe will come in to action tomorow evening as they play Trabzonspor on the road, if they manage to win they’ll come within 3 points of the Black Eagles. Where they to draw the difference will remain at 5 and a defeat would see the Eagles 6 points ahead.
