Adriano Correia’s first official interview

Updated: July 30, 2016

Beşiktaş‘ latest transfer Adriano Correia had his first official interview with the club’s official TV channel, BJK TV. Here is what the former Barcelona left-back had to say:

“It was great to feel the warmth of the fans”

“This was my first week and it was full of surprises. It was great to feel the warmth of the fans. We want to perform here like I did at my old clubs. I liked the city and the stadium a lot and the training ground has all facilities.”

“Our white jersey reminds me of the opponent”

“Wearing the jersey made me happy and it suits me a lot, but it’s kind of weird. When I was at Barcelona, the color of our opponent Real Madrid was white so the white jersey reminds me of the opponent. Barcelona’s offensive football is known. The family atmosphere is regarded as the main reason of succes. As far as I have seen Beşiktaş has this atmosphere too. I have watched some highlights of last season.”

“I definitely want to play against Galatasaray”

“I’m going to start working with the team at August 2. I continued training this week, but it’s not the same as training with the team. At August 7 I want to play a bit in our friendly game against Olympiakos. I definitely want to be on the pitch in our Super Cup game against Galatasaray. I can definitely play in every game, I believe in myself.”

“My favorite goal…”

“My favorite goal is the one against Atletico Madrid. We were down with 1-0 and eventually won the game 4-1. Of course I have scored some goals at Sevilla and Coritiba too. Our fans are very important. I have played in front of some good fans. In tough games they are by your side and win the game for you. It is a very important factor.”

“I’m going to make everyone dance”

“Neymar and I are very good friends and we joke around a lot. He is a great person. Our friendship continued at the Brazilian national team and at Barcelona. I’m going to make everyone dance at the end of the season when we win the championship, like with Neymar.”

“The first job of a back is to provide assists”

“My first goal is work according to the model and ways of the coach. This season we are going to get better results than last season. A tough league awaits us. The first job of a back is to provide assists. To score when we have the opportunity is amazing as well.”

“I love kebab”

“I would love to learn about the Turkish culture. I’m aiming for a social life here. I did that in Spain too. I want to be close with everyone. I love all foods but kebab is great. I need to not eat much of that though. I have the thought of returning in the national team, but I want to be useful for Beşiktaş first. That’s when I’ll get attention anyway. I have spoken with Marcelo and he has told me some great things.”

“I would love to wear number 21”

“I wore number 21 at Barcelona. Kerim is wearing that number here. If I get the chance I would love to wear it, because it was important to me throughout my whole career. A match against Barcelona would have been special for me. When I was at Sevilla I played against Barcelona and at Barcelona my first game was against Sevilla. Why wouldn’t a game between Beşiktaş and Barcelona happen?”
