Updated: November 1, 2016

After 3 consecutive draws for the young Black Eagles, Yasin Sülün’s boys were looking for their first UEFA Youth League victory in their home game against Napoli, who were bottom in the group. However due to a 12th minute penalty and the inability to convert a penalty of their own theBeşiktaş U19s suffered their first European defeat of the season, in fact it was their first defeat in all competitions as they are currently the only undefeated youth team in their domestic league.

After 11 minutes Batuhan Kragöz conceded a penalty following a foul on Luigi Liguori which was converted by striker Antonio Negro: 0-1 after 12 minutes of play.

The Black Eagles were also awarded a penalty in the 36th minute following a foul from Napoli’s Abdallah but Beşiktaş captain Eslem Öztürk saw his spotkick saved by goalkeeper Davide Marfella: still 0-1 after 37 minutes.

As the match continued the Italians put all their efforts on defending the lead, taking off two of their 3 attackers in the final 20 minutes of the match to secure their first victory in Group B.

For the young Eagles it’s only their first defeat in the group stages but as they had drawn the previous 3 matches they are now bottom in the group with 3 points. Napoli are in third with 4 points while Benfica and Dynamo Kyiv are joint leaders with 7 points. The young Eagles will need to win both their next games if they want to have a chance to qualify to the next round.
