Reactions to the Beşiktaş – Olympique Lyonnais draw

Updated: March 17, 2017

Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman: “It is a difficult opponent, but we are now in the final 8 and if we want to win this cup there is no easy or difficult anymore. Besiktas is not an easy opponent either. No game is won or lost without playing. We are going to do everything we can. I am hopeful. We eliminated Liverpool and beat Napoli away. Lyon is not a much better club than them. May God give us football luck and luck of the referee. Let’s not stay with 10 men because of mistakes like yesterday or lose because of an unfair referee like against Kiev. Our goal is to win the Europa League.”

Beşiktaş official Ali Naibi: “Lyon is an experienced and strong team. They are one of the favourites like us. It is going to be difficult for both teams and I hope we will go through. I hope we can go to Stockholm. Our fans support us in Europe and I hope this will be no different in Lyon. With the absence of Aboubakar, we have alternatives like Cenk and Ömer.”

Lyon official Bernard Lacombe: “We know Turkish football well and there are always great atmospheres in Istanbul. Besiktas are a very good team. All teams that reach the quarter finals are good teams of course. We can’t know what happens in a month. It’s a bad thing the second leg is played in Istanbul. Playing in the Europa League gives a lot of pleasure.”
