STSL: Beşiktaş: 4 Kasimpaşa: 1

Updated: May 21, 2017

Beşiktaş booked another important victory in their quest for their second consecutive Turkish Süper Lig title by beating Kasimpaşa 4-1 at the Vodafone Arena on Saturday.

It did not take the Black Eagles long to grab the visitors by the scruff of their necks when Vincent Aboubakar opened the scoring after just two minutes following an excellent exchange of passes with captain Oğuzhan Özyakup.

But just as quickly as the Eagles opened the score, just as quickly was the score back on level terms after a 4th minute Samuel Eduok strike from outside the box left Fabri with no chance.

Beşiktaş did not waver and continued to put their opponents under pressure, but failed to find a breakthrough until just past the hourmark. After a first appeal for a penalty after a handball was turned down by referee Serkan Çınar moments earlier, the referee could not turn a blind eye again when Adriano’s cross hit the arm of a Kasimpaşa defender. Ricardo Quaresma stept up and converted the spotkick: 2-1 after 33 minutes.

The Black Eagles came out of the dressing room looking to kill off the match quickly and again struck early after a phenomenal lofted pass by Vincent Aboubakar, Anderson Talisca did equally well to put the ball past goalkeeper Ramazan Köse with the outside of his left foot: 3-1 after 49 minutes.

Beşiktaş expanded on their lead 17 minutes later when one of Ricardo Quaresma’s pinpoint crosses was headed in by Ryan Babel: 4-1 after 66 minutes.

After the fourth goal the visitors came close to scoring once or twice but Fabri did briliantly to prevent another goal ending up int he back of his net.

With this important victory Beşiktaş move 5 points clear at the top of the table, although rivals Istanbul Başakşehir still play away at Trabzonspor on Sunday. Should Başakşehir fail to come away with 3 points in Trabzon, Beşiktaş can clinch their 15th league title next Sunday by beating Gaziantepspor in Gaziantep.
